Products Pollution Liability

Most agents are aware of the pollution exposures for their contractor clients and many are becoming familiar with Premises Pollution policies for commercial and industrial facilities. However, Products Pollution for manufacturing risks still appears to be a bit of a mystery.

Products Pollution coverage provides liability coverage for Bodily Injury and Property Damage to third parties arising out of a manufactured product. Pollutant Clean Up may be provided separately or included within the definition of Property Damage. Coverage can be provided by either a stand-alone policy or by an endorsement to a CGL form and can be offered with either a Claims Made or Occurrence Trigger, depending upon the market and type of product being insured. Virtually all premises have a pollution exposure, from an insured’s day-to-day operations, a neighbor’s negligence of its facility, or even natural disasters triggering an event. These pollution exposures may be excluded from General Liability or Property coverage forms, so it is important for businesses to have appropriate coverage in place that protects them from potential claims.

PartnerOne Premises Pollution is a Site Specific Pollution policy which can provide coverage for on and off-site clean up, defense costs, third party bodily injury, and property damage claims. Available product enhancements include first and third party Transportation Pollution Liability, Natural Resources Damages, coverage for scheduled Storage Tank systems, Mold coverage, Extended Reporting Periods, and coverage for Non-owned waste disposal sites. Coverage through the PartnerOne Premises Pollution program starts at $3,000. Get the complete article.
